The Cage

The Cage (2018) places blue neon crown forms within a steel cage. An installed photograph by Chase Hall shows the lit sculpture from across a room. A closer image reveals the curved tubing, the wiring and the metal structure that holds it. The support remains visible rather than disappearing behind the light. At a distance, the blue lines read as suspended outlines. Near the work, the construction and the spaces between those lines become part of the view. The Cage sits alongside the studio's larger room installations, where an object can alter how the surrounding space is seen.
